2022 was a busy year for us. Besides all of our previous progress (some of which can be read below), here are our last updates for the year.
Our AppBook Teacher app tools have been becoming more and more streamlined, allowing teachers to create quizzes with features like sliders, checklists, and drag-and-drop quizzes. The quiz feature is nearly ready for teachers to use, with around 70% of it created so far. We’ve been given access to the Apple Unlisted App Store, so our deployment for INSITE will be nice and smooth. We’ve just begun internal beta testing for our new AppBook Authoring App, and hope to see it up and running in no time. We’ve also received feedback from our sponsor—Apple—for two of our AppBook Apps. Several new features for the Appbook 2.0 have been in the works, including student assessment tools and color coding. We’ve been solving bugs in certain tools, such as one in the simulations tool allowing students to simulate ecosystems. Stay tuned to our updates by checking out our LinkedIn and Instagram pages (linked below).

Appbook's features for multiple choice quizzes are currently undergoing testing. There have been a few memory issues with Insight that are also being addressed.
More developer tools are currently being turned out to increase ease of use. As certain features are still only able to be created in UI Kit, Swift UI is supplemented by the continued use of UI Kit. Much of the new team members are nearly done their training, and can begin officially working on Project RAISE-PLUS. CYE is expanding our online presence, with newly-minted LinkedIn and Instagram accounts (which will both be linked below)! Further prospective expansions include plans for Facebook, and Twitter accounts. Updates on those will be posted here as well. Currently, CYE is in the process of onboarding some new talent—mostly Software Engineers. Many of them are in their training process or have just begun work on Project RAISE-PLUS.
Project RAISE-PLUS is an iPad and Mac textbook creation framework extended from Project RAISE that creates a unique and enriched experience engaging students of all learning backgrounds, while enabling teachers to customize textbook lessons specifically to their classroom needs. Teachers can customize entire textbooks to their students' needs and create .appbook files, which can then be placed on students' iPads. Current progress in RAISE-PLUS includes troubleshooting some freezing issues within the framework, improving drawing feedback with the Apple Pencil, and working on making multiple-choice quizzes author-able. Software engineers are working on the swiping tool, as well as working on the "add PDF" button. Recently, an A/B study was done in Arizona in which in a group of students following the same curriculum, half the students were provided with paper textbooks, and the other half were provided with the iPad Appbook learning system. The students loved using iPads and showed a preference for using Appbook over paper textbooks. |
